At HoopLife Summer Camp your kids will improve their overall game, learning:

Basketball Fundamentals (Shooting, Dribbling, Scoring, Defence, etc.)

  • Shooting is the most essential basketball skill because it directly causes scoring which determines outcomes of games. Beyond the obvious, remember that even skills such as passing and ball handling, the possession ends with a shot, one that must be converted for all those skills to matter. Good individual shooting, therefore, is a useful team skill because it enables opens up for floor for the entire offense to do their thing. It creates space, which keeps defenders from double-teaming your playmakers.

  • Dribbling is used to create space in order to get an easy shot for you or a teammate. There are several techniques that can help you create distance from your opponent but the main goal of being ball handler is to protect the basketball and provide opportunities the best help your team.

  • Defense puts great pressure in the opponents’ offensive strategies. Breaking these offensive strategies induces a higher rate of turnover, resulting in a change of possession of the basketball. Once the ball is changed from the opposing team to your own team, it allows your team to employ offensive strategies.

  • Physical Endurance and Core Training is important as it minimizes the drop in muscle performance as fatigue builds up. Basketball is a sport in which you are frequently running up and down the court. Even in casual half-court play, there is constant action.

  • Basketball IQ is the ability to just instinctively play the game and adapt to any situation that comes up. Knowing how to put the right play into motion at the right time is a skill that many players don’t instinctively possess. It combines a blend of technical skill, game awareness and understanding, plus experience. Basketball IQ is something that may not put points on the scoreboard or improve individual on-paper stats – unless you really dig deep. It does directly affect the game and can help your team win.

  • Mindset Development is the most crucial way to find success in basketball. You can work extremely hard on your handle, jump shot, etc. but if you don't work on your mind, then you are limiting your full basketball potential. You are putting a ceiling on how high you can go as a player and how good you can become.

  • Officiated Daily Scrimmages splitting players into teams. We will be running a mini-style tournament throughout the week.

Here is what attendees have to say:

"This experience exceeded our family's expectations for Samuel's week at HoopLife. He learnt so many important things and had a great time. He finished the week passionate about a sport he had very little skill in to start with. Meanwhile, my favourite part of his experience was the level of sportsmanship all kids were encouraged to have. This was both modeled as well as taught and encouraged by the coaches at the camp. We'll be recommending this camp to anyone we can and will be back in future years. Thanks!" - Meghan Woods

"We thank the HoopLife family for a great one week training experience. Zach enhance his skills in basketball, boosts his confidence, learned new fundamental of basketball also he made some new friends, Overall all you guys are highly recommended." - Zach Delos Reyes

"Ray really enjoyed the camp this summer. He said that the variety was nice he liked that everyday had a different focus. He felt very supported & motivated by the coaches and athletes. Thanks so much for making it a great experience!" - Nicole Theaker
