Term 1 Learn to Skate Hosted By Channel Performance and Primal Athletics

Learn to Skate ( ages 3 and up)

We are excited to bring to Aberdeen recreation Complex the New and Improved Pathway for Learn to Skate

Channel Performance is looking forward to partnering with Primal Athletics to build a successful program for the skating Community. We are in a mixed group up to level 2.

Meet the Senior Instructors

Chantel McDougall- I have been coaching for 25 years as a figure skating and power skating coach. I have taught recreational to competitive skaters, grassroots to WHL hockey players. I have completed my Advanced Coaches Diploma, and I hold a trained National Coach status. I’m the Founder, Director and Coach for Channel Performance. Channel Performance is Saskatoon’s First Multi-Sport & Cross-Training Studio.

Sandy Nicholat- Skate Canada National level Certified.  Level 5 LTAD module.  Coach of many provincial champions and medalists.   Coach of National competitors in Senior pairs and Jr singles.  Coach of beginner, adult, hockey players and competitive skaters.  Certified Skate Canada coach since September of 1981.

Jen Mason- Jen brings 22 years of coaching experience to the ice. She has earned her Provincial

Certification and is currently National Coach In Training. In addition, she is CanPowerSkate

Certified, supporting skaters in both figure skating and power skating development.

A passionate lifelong learner, Jen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, Bachelor of Education,

and a Master of Education. She currently serves as Principal of Dundurn School, bringing her

leadership skills and dedication to education into both the classroom and the rink.

Jen began her own skating journey with the Clavet Skating Club, where she achieved Junior

Silver Freeskate, Gold Dance, Gold Skills, Pre-Novice Competitive Ice Dance Pairs, Bronze

Rhythm Dance and was a member of the Saskatchewan Development Team.

Her coaching philosophy is centered on creating a positive, inclusive environment where every

skater feels valued, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. She believes in

fostering not only strong technical skills but also confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of skating.

Report cards will be handed out from Coaches at end of session

Skates and CSA approved helmet are required

Recommended: Mitts, Long Pants or snow pants and a warm jacket or sweater

Parents are not required to be on the ice unless asked directly. Best practice is behind glass or head upstairs so instructors are the main adult face the kids see and not battling kids skating off to parents.

Cancellation/refund policy- There will be no refunds for cancellations or missed classes. Refunds will only be provided if the program does not start due to unforeseen circumstances.
