Primal Academy Bi-Weekly Program 2025-2026
Program runs Mid Sept 2025 -End of April 2026.
We follow the Saskatoon Collegiate School Calendar-No training when Saskatoon Collegiate Schools are closed.
At Primal Athletics, our mission is to unleash the innate potential within every individual, fostering a community where passion for sports meets the primal drive for excellence. We are dedicated to providing cutting-edge training, innovative equipment, and a supportive environment that empowers athletes of all levels to surpass their boundaries and achieve their most ambitious goals.
Primal Athletics Academy is a skill development Academy, meaning Athletes play for a team from their respective Minor Hockey Zones. Attending the school of their choosing while attending individual training during Academic hours. This model allows athletes to practice and receive fitness training each day within the school hours, then fully participate in their team activities in the evenings and on weekends. Our current model of Minor Hockey in most associations is statistically low for the recommended hours of training athletes should be receiving on ice.
Registering for Primal Academy does not register your athlete in any school.

FLEX program @ ESTEY:
The FLEX program provides students with blended learning to accommodate alternate schedules so they can receive a quality education while pursuing their passions. All grades 6 to 9* curriculum is covered and there is a comprehensive grades 10 to 12 program.
Note: The cost involved for a student to join an outside organization, as well as transportation to and from the school, is the responsibility of the student, parent/caregiver and the organization.
A flexible school day schedule that includes a blend of face-to-face instruction and online learning opportunities to meet the individual needs of student athletes and artists.
In addition to allowing students to acquire a quality education while pursuing their athletic or artistic passion, the FLEX program fosters independence, confidence, time management skills and responsibility.
French and band are not offered.
Primal Athletics Program Highlights
This Program is based on progressions. Your player will be equipped with skills that become second nature and applicable in real game situations. Intensity of training will be set up to accommodate athletes evening hockey program, communication with trainers will be vital for this.
You are choosing dates that your child will attend for the full season in a set program- Days of the week cannot be changed.
We try hard to accommodate all athletes to match skill and age. Registration dependent, there may be more groups added or created to support the needs of all athletes skill and age. Changes to the dates, times and schedule are subject to change based on enrollment.
Bi-Weekly Program is focused on players aiming to represent AA and higher Skills
1XWeekly Program is focused on players aiming to represent High Intensity Skills without having a Bi-Weekly commitment.
Flow of Day:
8:30am-11:30am
1 hour Fitness and/or Off Ice Shooting
1 hour On Ice
45min-30min Lunch and Classroom portion ( Bob Braybrook, Goalie 101, Mentor Presentations, Video Review, Comprehension exams)
Primal Athletics Jersey is needed on ice; Cost is an additional $55, which will be added to invoicing.
Primal Athletics Skills on Ice:
Hockey is a dynamic and fast-paced sport, and our program offers top-notch training to develop skills on the ice. Our focused sessions will cover essential skills, including stickhandling, shooting, passing, and team play. Our experienced coaches will work closely with each athlete to help you develop into a more confident and capable player. Coaches have created weekly modules that are equipped with small quizzes to gauge the level of comprehension for each athlete.
WEEKS 1-2: EDGE AWARENESS, BODY POSTURE, PUCK POSITIONING WEEKS 3-4: IMPLEMENTATION OF PUCK SKILLS, UTILIZE ADVANCED EDGEWORK AND BODY MECHANICS WEEKS 5-6: PASSING WEEK- PASSING TECHNIQUES(CROSSOVER PASSES, PASSES IN MOTION, ONE TOUCH PASSES) WEEKS 7-8 SHOOTING WEEK
Goalie involvement: Players are set to be on ice in skills on day 1 while goalies are on their own ice surface in goalie development. On day 2, Coach Josh and goalies will join players on ice where goalies can take live shots while players can have the practice at shooting on live goalies.
Fitness Off Ice:
In addition to our on-ice training, we incorporate comprehensive off-ice fitness sessions. These workouts are designed to improve your strength, endurance, and overall athleticism. By building a strong fitness foundation, you'll not only be more effective on the ice but also reduce your risk of injury.
All athletes( players and goalies will join together for fitness)
Off-Ice Shooting:
Our off-ice shooting program allows you to enhance your shooting mechanics and accuracy away from the rink. Using techniques taught off ice, you'll develop a powerful shot and become more proficient in scoring situations, making you an asset to your team. Having instruction you can take home with you on a shot is a powerful resource to challenge any competitive player.
When players are in shooting, options for goalie 101 or fitness sessions will be offered.
Mental Performance Sessions with Bob Braybrook:
We understand that success in sports is not just physical; mental toughness is crucial. That’s why we’ve partnered with renowned mental performance coach Bob Braybrook. Bob will lead sessions to help athletes develop their mental game, focusing on strategies for concentration, resilience, and overcoming challenges. These skills are invaluable both on and off the ice.

Interactive Simulation Quizzes Powered by Conscious Hockey:
To enhance learning and engagement, our program includes interactive simulation quizzes powered by Conscious Hockey. These quizzes will keep you on your toes, testing your knowledge of the game, strategies, and skills, while making learning fun and engaging!
Speed, Agility, and Reactivity Testing:
To ensure you’re developing the right attributes for success, we will conduct speed, agility, and reactivity testing using Smartspeed timing gates on ice and incorporate Blazepod reaction lights. This objective data will help track your progress over the season and identify areas for improvement, giving you a competitive edge.
Coach Reports:
Our commitment to your development doesn’t stop with training alone. Throughout the season, you will receive coach reports providing constructive feedback on your progress. This personalized approach will help you understand your strengths and areas for growth, ensuring that you stay on track to meet your goals.
Goalie Instruction and Classroom 101:
For our dedicated goalies, we offer specialized instruction and a dedicated "Goalie Classroom 101" course. Here, you’ll learn the fundamental skills of goaltending, with opportunities for practical application on the ice. Coach Josh will provide insights on positioning, saves, and game strategy.
Transportation Option:
We have a 13 passenger van and first requested are first confirmed for transportation
The Only Pick up Location will be at MERLIS BELSHER at 8:00AM
Return to MERLIS BELSHER at approx: 12:15pm
Return to ESTEY at approx: 12:35pm
Meals:
Athletes will need to have a recovery meal for lunch each day.
Options are to bring from home or purchase on site from the All Star Cafe- Ordering options will be given out on Day 1 for All Star Cafe. Please plan to bring a lunch on the first day.

Installments of remaining fees based on balance needed on post dated cheques( dated Oct 1, 2025, Nov 1, 2025, Dec 1 2025, Jan 1 2026, Feb 1 2026, March 1 2026, April 1 2026) These MUST be on hand of first day- Written out to Primal Athletics
I am in agreement to register for the full program- There are no refunds or credits offered for missed days or discontinuation of program once it has began.
*Days are set per program and make-up days are not available by attending an alternate date. In the case of a session cancelled due to weather or illness, make up sessions will be re-scheduled.
