Skill Development Skate - Body Checking & Hitting (2010 - 2006 Birth Years)

CHA is welcoming all 2010-2006 born players involved in AA/AAA level competitive play to a 1hr on-ice Skill Development session focusing on Introductory and Advanced Body Checking and Hitting.

For all those new to body checking, you will learn how to receive and deliver body checking in a safe way to ensure that you understand the principles to keep you safe. You will also get to practice body checking and separating the player from the puck in open ice and on the boards. Hip check, shoulder check and how to understand the rules and processes of a proper body check so you avoid suspensions and keep safe. 

Advanced body checking is for those already playing hockey with body checking. Here you will learn all about evading body checks, tactics to deliver hard body checks and retrieve the puck all at once. You will also learn some key points to slip body checks and how to deliver big finishes to your hits with power and confidence. 

Skills Focus

New to body checking:

• Receive and deliver body contact in a safe way - understanding the principles that keep you safe.

• Practice body checking & separating the player from the puck in open ice and on the boards.

• Hip check, shoulder check & learn to understand that rules and processes of a proper body check so you avoid suspensions and stay safe.

Advanced body checking:

• For those players already playing with contact.

• Learn to evade body checks & tactics to deliver hard body checks and retrieve the puck all at once.

• Learn some key points to slip body checks and how to deliver big finishes to your hits with power and confidence.
